So it is interesting to know what different words mean one thing in one country and completely another in another country.

For example if you call a random lady walking on streets here as Xiao Jie (小姐）, it is a polite way of addressing her. But take it to China and the ladies will think you are insulting them because that means she is a prostitute.

So quite sometime ago (i think one or 2 years) i was riding on the train, there was this little girl from China, she wanted to ask me for directions and for a while i noticed she was staring at me and since i didn't know what she wanted, i ignore her. Then after sometime (still looking at me), she decided to that she was brave enough and she said: "Auntie..."

Lol i was still young ok (and i'm still young now!)? Around the age of 17? And there's this one little girl calling me auntie. I think she knew it would be weird that was why she was staring at me, trying to think of ways not to make the whole situation awkward.
Oh well.

Another word is "Spaz". It is interesting to note that Spaz is completely acceptable in the US but not in the UK because it is sort of a derogatory term for people afflicted with spastic paralysis.
So the bottom line? Try not to use slangs in places where you are not familiar with or you will land into hot soup.
