Just a couple days ago, I went online to find any local imports of an Italian brand wafer (out of curiosity because I found the wafer to taste rather delicious). I chanced upon a wholesaler that sells biscuits, snacks, candies and chocolates and realised it carries whole lot of confectioneries and candies that I had always seen when I was a kid but not so much now anymore.

One of the more memorable memories with candies has definitely got to be the Ring Pop. We kids would go to grandma's old old old place @ Eunos almost every Sunday and my aunt would sometimes get us candies (Ring Pops) and then take us to the playground near the block. We would then suck on the candies and run around, playing swings and slides. On the way back after we had our fun, we will stop by at the little fenced garden and visit the residents living there....the chickens!

Did I mention chicks too? I remembered once the hen lay eggs and she was sitting on them, resting. I was curious enough to squat in front her and watch her and my aunt would tell us not to disturb the soon-to-be-mummy. The next week when we came, the chicks had hatched! I don't think we kids were interested in the swings and slides for weeks to come after that because of the sheer joy and curiosity about LIVE animals. It was almost impossible for me to imagine seeing a live animal (other than birds, cats and dogs) wandering around like that. I think i did try to carry the hen once but I didn't hold her for too long as she was struggling to get out of me..hahahaha...
